I have a profound respect for entrepreneurs and those who pursue the journey of building great businesses. Like anything that is worth doing it comes with struggle and challenges and high levels of personal risk – to ego and self-esteem as much as to finances and security.
Often our role is to work with founders to transition their business from high-growth challenger to world-class market leader; and to build a team to deliver this ambition. This frequently involves acquisitions and breaking ground in international markets and over the years we have specifically designed, invested in and iterated Livingbridge’s capabilities to support these strategies.
Livingbridge is a thematic, sector focussed investor – enabling us to short-cut lots of conversations with the businesses we support and focus on the small number of big decisions. For my part, in much of my career to date I have been involved in the travel industry in the UK working with outstanding businesses that have defined or redefined their markets such as Ski Esprit, On the Beach, Travel Jigsaw, Encore Tickets, Direct Ferries, Sykes Cottages and most recently Loveholidays; achieving great success and also working with some of them through the GFC and the pandemic.
These days I work across the consumer, tech, services and healthcare sectors and in a variety of roles within Livingbridge as we continue our own journey to becoming a world class private equity firm.
Outside of work I stay fit, travel and spend time with family and friends. I grew up in Birmingham, studied Sport Science at Loughborough and worked in the Midlands at RBS in Corporate Banking then Leveraged Finance before arriving in London and at Livingrbridge in 2003.
