ILS, a provider of acute domiciliary care, provides homecare each week to private clients and local authorities across Scotland. Services range from elderly homecare to specialist intensive nurse led packages.

Trebling homecare provision to become Scottish market leader
  • Our investment in 2005 enabled ILS’s acquisition of Home Concern. This added 6,400 hours of weekly domiciliary care. The managing director said at the time, “We now have the capacity to support the majority of Scottish local authorities and build our presence in new geographic areas.”
  • During the course of the investment ILS made ten acquisitions and expanded rapidly through tender wins. This expansion was supported with significant investment in human resources and technology. Adam Holloway, partner at Livingbridge, said, “ILS performs a really essential service to thousands of adult and elderly service users across Scotland. Our focus throughout was to build a sustainable business where growth allowed investment in people and systems in a sector with rising demand but acute funding pressures. We worked with an excellent and highly dedicated team at central, regional and branch levels.”
  • At point of investment the business was delivering 11,000 hours of homecare each week. This had increased to 39,000 hours by exit.
  • ILS was sold to Mears Group PLC in 2013. Mears Group is a UK wide organisation, employing more than 20,000 people maintaining and improving homes, and caring for the people living in them.
