Group CEO and co-founder Graham Martin sees the move as an important step to successfully implementing the group’s European growth strategy.
A key focus of Miller’s new role will be on positioning Carousel – which incorporates Carousel Logistics Ltd and LSi Logistik GmbH - as a key European player, shaping a new European sales team and supporting organic growth particularly in Northern Europe, as well as identifying potential merger and acquisition opportunities.
With deep knowledge and broad experience in logistics, transport and supply chain, Miller’s appointment bolsters Carousel’s already extensive expertise, particularly in the European markets.
New European Sales and Innovation Centre in Frankfurt
As one major strategic milestone to develop a European player, Carousel will set-up its new sales and innovation centre in Frankfurt. The German market has increased in importance for Carousel after last year’s merger with LSi Logistik, a high-speed logistics firm, which remains based in Munich. The group’s network is extensive across Europe and it now has hubs located through the UK and Germany, as well as in Spain. Carousel expects above-average growth throughout 2018, whilst maintaining its commitment to providing service-focused logistics.
Building on the group’s growth over the last three years, Miller will spearhead Carousel’s plan to expand the group’s European footprint, driving forward strategic projects focused on providing agile and technology-led transport solutions to high-performance industries. The priority will be to grow the group’s market share, by extending its partner network and by making further acquisitions and mergers.
Carousel’s quick to deploy and easy to integrate service and technology platform is critical in the delivery of agile, integrated transportation and logistics solutions, and it continues to invest heavily in its platform capabilities. With more than 17 years’ experience, Miller has a proven track-record for developing technology-led logistics companies that offer the very best supply chain adaptability and transparency. As chairman he will support in the expansion of Carousel’s technology capabilities even further.
Graham Martin, European CEO, said:
“Alongside his great achievements and vast operational and technical expertise, Franz-Joseph also has significant board experience, making him the ideal candidate to join Carousel at this exciting time.
“Having known Franz-Joseph for many years, we’ve always been impressed with his passion and tenacity for growing businesses, at pace, while also delivering the same exceptional service to clients. As today’s announcement and our future ones will reveal, we’re at a pivotal point in our history and know that Franz-Joseph will be invaluable in helping to develop the business particularly as the group grows through more M&A activity during the next few years. We can think of no one better qualified for the job.”
Franz-Joseph Miller, chairman, said:
“Tech-enabled service logistics platforms are becoming increasingly important in managing the customer experience for many high-performance industries. Carousel and LSi Logistik have an impressive portfolio in this area and are exceptionally well regarded in the industry, which provides a solid foundation for its ambitious growth strategy. In an overall competitive environment, demand for service-led, tech-enabled logistics that offer complete transparency and data clarity is greater now than ever before, making the group’s proposition very strong - as demonstrated by its year on year growth and above-industry customer satisfaction levels. I’m very much looking forward to working with Graham and the team to build on the fantastic achievements they have made to date.”
