Inclusion means the UK’s largest independent holiday lettings operator has been highlighted as one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic firms in Europe.
To be featured in the list, companies needed to show consistent growth, innovation and job creation. The accolade follows Sykes’ inclusion in the ‘1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ report in both 2016 and 2015.
The publication of the report coincides with Sykes’ relocation to One City Place, which was a key part of its ongoing investment strategy to support expansion.
Earlier this year, Sykes – which has been based in Chester for more than 25 years – reported record growth in sales and profits in its latest financial year, thanks to increased demand for staycations and a record number of foreign visitors.
The business generated sales of £27.3m for the year ending September 2016, an increase of 24%, with bookings in the year to date also up 23%. It expects to serve over 1m holidaymakers this year, up from 815,000 last year.
Graham Donoghue, CEO of Sykes Cottages, said:
“It’s been a really exciting year for the business – in the last month alone, we’ve signed a new 10-year head office lease, launched an app and our first ever TV advertising campaign.
“This LSEG listing is an acknowledgement of our investment and subsequent success, and we’re viewing it as the next step in us delivering on our ambition of being the number one provider of UK breaks.”
