Because what we really do is back people, we know how important it is to have a brilliant team leading the way. We’ve invested in our in-house talent function, headed up by Ruby Biring, former Partner of a leading executive search firm, to help investees build the right team to deliver their growth ambitions.
We think it’s important to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to attracting talent for our investees so we’re constantly on the look out for best-in-class professionals to ensure we’re always one step ahead.
Leveraging our network
Scoping roles and developing an organisational roadmap
When a business grows quickly it can be hard to identify what roles you need and when. We can provide fresh eyes to scope future talent requirements and together build an organisational roadmap to plan how your team could evolve over the longer-term.
Leveraging our network
We’ve built up our network of best-in-class talent over the last 20 years meaning that we know a wealth of candidates. And, because we help recruit for more than 30 businesses, if we don’t already know someone just right, we can quickly access a broad network of high quality talent through our long standing recruitment partners, allowing investees to punch above their weight. With an international network of offices and as a founding member of the Global PE alliance, we can also help investees access candidates on a global scale.
Onboarding team members
An evolving team can be a challenge to balance and so we work with a trusted leadership consultancy to support the onboarding of new management team members to accelerate board effectiveness and unlock the full potential of the team.
Roadmapping a succession plan
If at some point you’re looking to step back from the business you’ve built, we can help you to roadmap a succession plan. Whether it’s helping to mentor an existing member of your team to step up into the role or assisting the business in sourcing someone new who can provide fresh eyes for the next stage of growth, we have the resource available to help the business create a smooth process that works for everyone.
Sourcing interim talent
Good things are worth the wait, so we commit to helping the business find the best candidate for the role. To give us the freedom to do this we’ve built a network of experts who work with our investees on an interim basis so that growth plans can continue without delay.
Nexus Vehicle Rental
During our investment in vehicle rental firm Nexus, we helped strengthen the senior team, by assisting the company to recruit a new chairman, an FD and a sales director who supported the business as its profits grew fivefold over the period of our investment.
When we invested in technology recruitment specialists Frank Recruitment in 2013, CEO and co-founder Sean Wadsworth knew that when we exited, he wanted to exit too. So, with our help, the business put together a succession plan, bringing in a strong CEO, enabling Sean to step back, retain a seat on the board and hand over his operational responsibility.
Have you considered hiring a Chief Operating Officer (COO) for your growing business? If so, you’re far from alone. Many SMEs are now increasingly recognising the value that this role can bring, with many private equity-backed businesses leading the way.
Fast-growth businesses require more than capital to be successful – they need an experienced team who can navigate the challenges of rapid expansion and open doors to new growth areas. This is where a high-quality chair is especially valuable as they can bring experience and a new perspective to the senior team.
