I lead Livingbridge’s Services investment team where we focus on technology-enabled service providers. We believe that people-based businesses that are underpinned by technology and data are going to be the long-term winners – and we’ve backed many.
I’m privileged that in my role I get to meet so many inspiring businesses. I’m always curious about the customer problem that a business has set out to solve and how it has developed a proposition to do so. There is frequently a founder or executive who has sat in the shoes and their clients and felt the pain!
The businesses we back can show how they retain and grow customer relationships based on the success of their proposition and are often growing by putting their propositions in front of more potential customers in their home markets and internationally. They are also often considering or have embarked on an M&A journey to strengthen their propositions and/or access more customers.
Having worked in a technology business prior to joining Livingbridge in 2016, I’m also a big advocate of the power of both technology and data in allowing service providers to solve these problems better, faster and in a more scalable way – for example, how Brainlabs has built a database of previous digital marketing experiments that it uses to make recommendations to clients, which get smarter over time as the database builds. The truth is that I’m a bit of a data geek!
I also lead the Growth Acceleration Team at Livingbridge, partnering with both management and investor teams to support strategic decision making. Whether identifying attractive customer segments through data, refining a proposition or thinking through operational complexity, my role is to help structure thinking and draw on expertise from the Livingbridge network. GAT is built around enabling our Management teams to tackle opportunities and challenges that they are seeing for the first time, that Livingbridge has seen many times.
I have a young family and enjoy frequent trips to the park and building Lego. You might also find me in the gym, looking for trendy coffee shops, and trying (and failing) to recreate recipes from Masterchef – my latest kitchen gadget is a Bluetooth meat thermometer!
