Livingbridge, the mid-market private equity firm, today announces the formation of a Strategic Advisory Board, bringing together senior figures from international business, politics and finance.
The Strategic Advisory Board will be chaired by Dame Alison Carnwath, the current chairman of Land Securities, the largest commercial property development and investment company in the UK.
Dame Alison also holds non-executive positions at insurer Zurich and Paccar, one of the largest manufacturers of medium and heavy-duty trucks in the world. She is senior advisor to independent investment banking advisory firm Evercore Partners and supervisory board member and audit committee chair of BASF, the world’s largest chemical producer. She has been a Non-Executive Director of Livingbridge since 2001.
She will be joined by;
- Lord Livingston, former CEO of BT Group and former UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment who currently chairs investment management firm Man Group plc and is Deputy Chairman of electrical and telecommunications retailer Dixons Carphone plc;
- Edward Bonham Carter, the former Chief Executive and now Vice Chairman of Jupiter Fund Management plc;
- Amee Chande, currently Managing Director, Global Strategy & Operations for Alibaba Group, the global e-commerce giant who has also previously held senior positions at retailers Tesco, Staples and Walmart; and
- Andy Harrison, the former CEO of Whitbread, Easyjet and RAC who currently chairs Dunelm, the UK’s leading home furnishing retailer.
The focus of the Strategic Advisory Board will be to provide senior counsel and an informed external perspective on critical political, economic, social, regulatory and technological matters and how these might impact on Livingbridge’s business and investment strategy.
The formation of the Strategic Advisory Board follows a busy period of activity for Livingbridge which saw the Group announce a successful £660m raise in October 2016, its eighth and largest fundraise to date. In total, the Group invested in 10 companies over the course of 2016 and in February 2017 announced its investment in Stowe Family Law, the largest family law firm in the UK and Livingbridge’s 107th investment since its inception.
Wol Kolade, Managing Partner said:
“The strategic input from such an experienced, knowledgeable and diverse group of people will be invaluable in helping us anticipate, support and plan both our own development as a firm and that of our portfolio companies. In an increasingly complex global environment it is imperative to be well informed on current issues outside of our normal scope of activities.”
