Software developer for structural engineers

CSC develops innovative software and supports structural engineers. Livingbridge invested in CSC in 2007 to support plans for international expansion. Based in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, CSC is the UK market leader with products including Fastrak, Orion and TEDDS.

Designing growth in an international market

  • During the investment period, and against a difficult economic backdrop, the business remained a UK market leader and was able to grow and develop its loyal customer base through expansion into new geographies including the US, Middle East, Africa and India. Expansion into India was aided by its 2011 acquisition of the structural software division of SoftTech, based in Pune. This enabled CSC to enhance and market SoftTech’s established STRUDS software in line with its own product range.
  • Livingbridge provided M&A support and helped appraise overseas acquisitions. At point of exit Pete Clarke, partner at Livingbridge, said, “Over the last five years, Mark and the team have developed the geographic footprint of the business to give it true global reach across six continents. At the same time we have made significant investment in developing exciting new products for its loyal and expanding customer base.”
  • After a five-year investment period CSC is sold to NASDAQ-listed Trimble who apply technology to make field and mobile workers in businesses and government significantly more productive.
  • In 2014 CEO Mark Roberts was awarded CEO of the year for the North East of England. According to Pete Clarke of Livingbridge, “Mark consistently delivered on plans to build CSC organically, through acquisition and internationally.”

“With the support of Livingbridge, the CSC team have grown the business through the most challenging economic conditions. We have delivered on our plans to build CSC internationally through both organic expansion and acquisition. Livingbridge’s strategic thinking and flexible approach have enabled us to take a long-term view of both product development and overall strategy.”
